ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - A 51-year-old St. Charles man was sentenced to five years in federal prison Wednesday for enticing a minor via Craigslist, U.S. Attorney Richard Callahan said.

According to documents, an undercover officer posing as a 14-year-old boy posted a "male looking for male" ad on Craigslist in October 2013. The defendant, Michael Engler, responded and arranged to meet the officer even after being reminded of the "boy's age." Engler told the "boy" that he was involved in a Boy Scouts venturing program and knew about boys experimenting sexually.

Police arrested Engler on October 16, 2013 when he showed up at the pre-determined meeting spot behind an ice rink on Brentwood Boulevard.

In January, Michael Engler pleaded guilty in January 2014 to one felony count of using interstate facilities to transmit information about a minor with intent to engage in sexual activity.
