ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (AP) - A man who's been convicted in two 2008 slayings in Illinois is set to go on trial for four more.

Jury selection started in Rock Island this week for Nicholas Sheley.

The 34-year-old Sterling man is charged with murder for the beating deaths of 29-year-old Brock Branson; his fiancée, 20-year-old Kilynna Blake; her 2-year-old son, Dayan; and 25-year-old Kenneth Ulve. They were killed in the apartment in a Rock Falls they all shared.

Sheley has pleaded not guilty.

Sheley has been convicted of killing a man from Sterling and another from Galesburg during the same week. He still faces trial in the deaths of an Arkansas couple found dead in Missouri.

Rock Falls City Council member Mark Vandersnick says the four deaths left many residents of the small town shaken.
