CRAWFORD COUNTY, Mo. – A man on trial in a high-profile case that made national headlines has been found guilty.

James Crocker of Crawford County was convicted Wednesday of second-degree murder. He shot and killed a man who stopped during a float trip on the Meramec River and relieved himself near Crocker's property.

Crocker said he was protecting his home, but the jury didn't agree with his claim of self-defense.

Sentencing has been set for July 16 at 1 p.m.
