ST. LOUIS – First-degree murder charges have been filed against a 17-year-old accused of stabbing her ex-boyfriend to death.
Kaila Chambers is accused of killing 19-year-old Thearon Maxey Sunday evening on the front porch of an apartment in the 3100 block of Clay. She's also charged with armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.
Police say they were called to the home for a report of a cutting. When they arrived at the scene they found Maxey with a puncture wound to his chest. He was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Schron Jackson, a spokesperson for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, says an investigation revealed Chambers and Maxey were fighting when Chambers retrieved a butcher knife and stabbed Maxey. Jackson says Chambers ran from the scene but surrendered to police around 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Chambers is held without bond.
