ST. LOUIS – Police have confirmed a man taken into custody on the streets of St. Louis Friday afternoon is the person suspected of robbing a Hazelwood bank earlier in the day.

Officer Brian Schellman with the St. Louis County Police Department says a county officer spotted the suspect's vehicle at 367 and Lindbergh Boulevard. The officer pursued the suspect to West Florissant and Emerson in the city of St. Louis.

After a short foot pursuit, the suspect was taken into custody with assistance from officers with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.

The man was wanted in connection to the robbery of Bank of America earlier in the day.

If charges are filed the man's name will be released.
