ST. LOUIS COUNTY – Charges have been filed against men accused of attempting to swim away from police Wednesday afternoon.

Jarrell Beckman, 32, is charged with first-degree burglary, second-degree trafficking of narcotics – marijuana, and felony resisting arrest. Myron Davis, 31; Johnny Hughes, 22; and Christopher Watson, 32, are each charged with first-degree burglary.

Police were called to a home in Jennings Wednesday afternoon by a woman who said she found four men standing in her living room after they broke into her home.

Officers spotted the suspects' vehicle on the highway and started a pursuit that continued into Illinois and back into Missouri before crashing just east of Interstate 70 and Highway 111.

Two of the suspects attempted to swim across a lake, but were taken into custody once they reached the shore. The other two suspects drove off in a second car but were taken into custody a short time later.

Nothing was taken from the home in Jennings, and nobody was injured.

Marijuana was found inside two large boxes in the suspects' vehicle.
