ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. – Charges have been filed against a man accused of dragging a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper down Interstate 70 while trying to flee after a traffic stop.

Marc Staszcuk, 42, of Foristell, is charged with assault on a MSHP trooper and resisting arrest.

The 26-year-old officer initiated the stop on eastbound I-70 at Highway 94 in St. Charles around 1:30 a.m. As she approached the car, Staszcuk is accused of driving away from the scene, dragging the trooper for a short distance before getting away.

Staszcuk was taken into custody a short time later on westbound I-70 at Highway 70.

The trooper was taken to an area hospital for treatment and released later Thursday morning.
