BELLEVILLE, Illinois (KSDK) – Authorities arrested a man suspected of an armed robbery Saturday afternoon after an almost nine-hour standoff.

According to police, a man came into a TitleMax store in Fairview Heights, Ill. Friday afternoon, showed a gun to employees and demanded money. The man left the store with an unknown amount of money.

The investigation found the man suspected of the robbery leaved in Pheasantwood Court Apartments in Belleville, but officers' attempts to contact the officers failed.

Officers called in the Belleville/St. Clair County Special Response team to assist in the case and obtained a search warrant to no avail.

Police finally was able to arrest the man around 1:30 p.m. Saturday peacefully.

No injuries occurred during the incident or robbery.
