MADISON COUNTY, Illinois (KSDK) – Madison County State's Attorney Tom Gibbons charged a woman for the beating death of her elderly father.
Diane S. Kelly, 54, faces first-degree murder charges in the death of Woodrow Dilday, Gibbons said.
Authorities responded to the 2800 block of Harding Thursday around 3:30 a.m., and officers found the body of Dilday with head injuries. Police arrested Kelly that morning.
According to police reports, Kelly hit her father in the head multiple times with a bludgeon after an argument. Her mother was also at home of the time of the incident but was not harmed.
Kelly is being held at Granite City Police Department and is expected to be transferred to Madison County Jail later Friday. She is being held without bond.
If convicted, she faces up between 20 and 60 years, Gibbons said.
