KIRKWOOD, Mo. – Three people are in custody after a Walgreens in Kirkwood was robbed at gunpoint overnight by a man dressed as a woman.
Det. Dave Smith with the Kirkwood Police Department says at 2:42 a.m. 18-year-old Jevon Clark entered the Walgreens store in the 400 block of N. Kirkwood Road. Smith says Clark sought out the manager and announced a robbery while showing a gun, then escorted two employees to a back room and emptied two cash registers before fleeing in a vehicle.
Smith says a police officer was on patrol in the area and noticed a suspicious vehicle in the Walgreens parking lot. He saw it leave, and tried to pull it over using lights and sirens.
The suspects drove down two or three side streets before heading east on Manchester Road. The vehicle sustained a flat tire and stopped on Manchester Road just east of Berry Road in Rock Hill. Clark and 38-year-old Quintez Taylor were taken into custody at the vehicle and transferred to the St. Louis County Jail.
Clark has been charged with 1st degree robbery and was held on a $100,000 cash bond. Taylor was charged with resisting a felony arrest and held on a $25,000 cash bond.
A third suspect was taken into custody while trying to run from the car. They were transferred to another St. Louis municipality for outstanding traffic-related warrants.
Smith says a gun and cash from the store were recovered from the vehicle.
One Walgreens employee suffered a minor injury during a scuffle with the suspect. Details of the injury have not been released.
