FERGUSON, Mo. (KSDK) – One Ferguson elementary school will stay closed longer than expected due to significant water damage sustained Tuesday.

A sprinkler head burst at Johnson-Wabash Elementary School due to subzero temperatures and caused as much as two-thirds of the school to have water damage, according to Ferguson-Florissant School District spokeswoman Jana Shortt.

The school was closed Tuesday due to frigid conditions.

Administrators are assessing the school's damage and where to hold classes when school resumes, Shortt said. She said administrators were unsure of the repairs time frame.

Families of Johnson-Wabash students have been notified about the damage and the planned moves.
