ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - Students looking to transfer out of two local unaccredited schools for the next school year face a deadline today.
Normandy and Riverview students who want to go to an accredited school next year must have an application filled out and turned in by 4 p.m. Monday.
In addition to the application, the district requires a face-to-face meeting before students can transfer.
Students who transferred at the beginning of this year will also have to notify their new district that they're returning next year.
Both the Normandy and Riverview Gardens districts lost their accreditation over the summer, leading to thousands of students transferring to new schools, which is being paid for by the unaccredited districts.
Once the application is turned in, the residency verification process will start in May or June. Applying students will find out thereafter which school they'll attend in the fall.
