ST. LOUIS (AP) - Missouri's state auditor is returning to St. Louis to release an updated report on the city's public schools.
Auditor Tom Schweich (shwyk) gave the St. Louis Public Schools a "fair" rating in a September 2013 review. State watchdogs identified several problems, including the promotion of hundreds of students to the next grade level despite having poor reading skills.
The auditor's office conducts follow-up reviews when it issues grades of "fair" or "poor" to the local and state government agencies it monitors. Schweich planned to release the new report at a news conference Thursday morning.
