EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (KSDK) - Math can be problematic for some students and parents, but finding help for is now easy.

Southern Illinois University Edwardsville has launched a Homework Hotline to help middle school students. Students might not always be able to turn to their parents for math help, but can turn to SIUE students.

It's for sixth through eighth graders on both sides of the river who need help with their math homework. The tutors have many of the math textbooks at their disposal that kids are actually using in school, and are focused on helping students figure out the solution versus just giving them the answer.

Kids can reach the SIUE's Homework Hotline at 618-650-3072; it's open Sunday through Thursday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Even parents call to walk through a problem with the tutor. There are hopes to expand the program in the future, but at present SIUE is just focused on junior high math.
