ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – A Carnahan High School social studies teacher received one of the biggest honors of the St. Louis Public Schools.

SLPS Superintendent Kelvin Adams announced Dianna Summer the 2013-2014 Teacher of the Year. She was surprised during her Wednesday morning class.

Summer has been a teacher at Carnahan since 2006 and was promoted to the social studies department head prior to this school year.

She's previously received the 2013 Roger L. Goldman Middle/High School Social Studies Teacher of the Year Award and the 2012-2013 Pettus Award.

She will now be eligible to win the Missouri Teacher of the Year, which will be announced later this year.
