EARTH CITY, Mo. (KSDK) – Missouri Department of Higher Education officials said they will work with Everest College students to help them get what they paid for either by securing a refund or ensuring they can complete degree programs they've started.

But, one official says the closure of Everest College is one of the largest he's seen, and it is likely the department will not be able to help every student.

Tuesday night, outside Everest College in Earth City, some students said the school had assured them they could finish their degree.

Others by email to NewsChannel 5 expressed frustration with the school.

Student Jessica Bolden said as she left class she had not heard of the impending closure.

"This is coming out of nowhere…I'm really disappointed," Bolden said.

According to the Missouri Department of Higher Education, the Earth City location enrolled a total of nearly 700 students in 2013, but it is unclear exactly how many current attend the college.
