ST. LOUIS - While the flu virus is still widespread in most of the country, last week cases did not spike as high as they did in weeks past.

Forty-one states are now reporting widespread flu activity, up from forty the week before. Missouri's flu numbers are on the high end, while illinois' are lower.

The number of patients visiting their doctor with flu-like symptoms went down slightly, as did the number of people hospitalized with the flu.

Despite the decline, health experts say we're not out of the woods yet. January and February are usually the peak of flu season.
