ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KSDK) – St. Louis County residents should take caution around wildlife as the first positive rabies test has been identified in the county for 2014.

Two bats have tested positive for rabies, according to the health department.

St. Louis County Department of Health is asking residents who see or encounter a dead or alive bat to contact the health department.

The department found five rabid bats in 2013, according to St. Louis County Department of Health Director Dr. Dolores Gunn.

Residents are encouraged to confine the bat to a room where found, and health department employees will test the bat.
