ST. LOUIS - Millions of Americans take the drug niacin. It's often prescribed in combination with statins like Lipitor to lower cholesterol.
In fact, 700,000 new prescriptions for niacin are prescribed every year, but a new report shows statins alone work just as well. And, combining them with niacin only lead to more complications.
Dr. Michael Lim is a cardiologist at Saint Louis University Hospital, and he joined NewsChannel 5 First @ 4 Thursday to talk about what patients should do now.
