ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – A few nights ago, Andy Karandzieff, owner of Crown Candy Kitchen, tweeted a photo with a caption reading "I'm happy the Cardinals are in the playoffs but it's KILLING my business."
Andy says on game days he'll still have a good lunch crowd, but businesses like his that aren't right by the stadium see huge a drop-off late in the afternoon and at night.
"They want to be down there. They want to be part of that energy. Heck I want to be down there and be part of that energy. But I've got to take care of my business," said Andy.
He says for tradition's sake he won't put a TV in the restaurant, but he often cranks up KMOX so customers can listen to the game.
One business that's loving the Cardinals' World Series run is BEST Transportation near Westport. Major League Baseball picked the company to chauffer dignitaries in town for the game as well as players and entertainers.
"So it's very exciting. All of our chauffers are all excited. Our entire team is. All hands on deck the entire weekend for sure," said Kim Garner, owner of BEST Transportation.
Garner is one person that's hoping the Cards don't sweep the Red Sox. More games in St. Louis mean more business for her.
