GRANITE CITY, Ill. (KSDK) - Some Cardinals fans were brave for Game 1 of the World Series. About 100 fans sat outside in the cold wet weather to watch the game on a 20' x 30' screen.
The Granite City Marching Band invited the community to the football field Wednesday to watch the big game outside. Despite the damp weather during the game, this was the place to be to watch. Most were sitting on blankets, wrapped up in blankets and sipping their favorite warm beverage.

The Granite City Marching Band held the event just wanting to thank the community for supporting them through the years and helping financially support them this year with helping purchase uniforms. The band director says this is the best way they know how to give back.
"Everybody in Granite City loves the Cardinals and this was a wonderful opportunity to come and out and have a great time on us," said band director Wyatt Roberds.
"This is best way to do it, it's worth the rain, I think it's worth it," said Cards fan Gary Tadlock.
The band director says they may do another outdoor showing sometime during the World Series.
