FERGUSON, Mo. (KSDK) - Thousands of Cardinals fans will flood Busch Stadium this weekend. Many will be wearing unique t-shirts celebrating the Cardinals World Series run.
But they won't be officially licensed MLB gear because the local company printing the shirts turned down a huge opportunity so it could stay loyal to its regular customers.
Ralph Rockamann has been running Sportsprint in Ferguson for more than 40 years. He's thrilled the Cardinals are in the World Series. But not enough to take a contract from Major League Baseball.
The creative minds at Sportsprint have come up with a number of original t-shirts. Lots of them celebrate Michael Wacha's success in the postseason.
They're printing the shirts on their own presses. But they're not printing official World Series shirts because the MLB contract would require them to stop production of gear for their regular customers like local high school teams.
"We have business on a daily basis from many, many accounts around St. Louis and we chose to make sure they're all taken care of first. And then we enjoy this as our ride through the playoffs and into the World Series with the Cardinals," said Ralph Rockamann.
You can find the original shirts at Sportsprint stores, some Schnucks and lots of other places around town.
