Chicago Cardinal says gay marriage is bad legislation
AP - Chicago Cardinal Francis George says a vote to legalize gay marriage in Illinois was "no enormous surprise", but says the bill was "bad legislation."
The head of the Archdiocese of Chicago told the Chicago Sun-Times that "we've lived with bad laws before".
He added that he believes the measure will "change the nature of our society over a period of time".
Illinois lawmakers voted Tuesday to legalize same-sex marriage in Illinois. The governor has said he'll sign the bill.
If that happens, Illinois will become the 15th state in the country to legalize same-sex marriage.
