TROY, Mo. (KSDK) – The students of Troy Buchanan High School have revealed their special project for a teacher who has made a lasting impression.

Mr. Greg Mix was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last year. As his health worsened, his students decided they wanted to do something special for him, to let him know how much he means to them.

And so,#TheMixMovement was born. The hashtag has been mentioned in more than 40,000 tweets, and more than $6,000 has been raised via Mr. Mix's YouCaring page.

When NewsChannel 5 first spoke to students, they said they were planning an even more special to-secret project to present to Mr. Mix.

That project is a nearly 11 minute video explaining why they love Mr. Mix.

"This is proof one person can make a big impact," the narrator of the video says. "This is the legacy of Mr. Mix."

The community rallied around Mr. Mix, with support from TV stations, radio stations, the St. Louis Cardinals, the St. Louis Blues, local restaurants, companies, and even soldiers overseas.

"He's left a mark on everyone at this school. Even the people who don't know him," one student says in the video.

The video is peppered with inspirational messages from students.

"Thanks for being my friend," one of the messages reads.

The video ends with the school singing "You will never walk alone."

"Mr. Mix, you are not alone in this. Love, Troy Buchanan."
