ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – Volunteer tax preparers are needed in the City of St. Louis and surrounding counties to provide free tax counseling and basic return preparation for the spring filing season.

The IRS, AARP, and the Gateway EITC Community Coalition are looking for volunteers who have basic computer skills to complete the IRS Volunteer e-learning course. Accounting experience is not required.

Volunteers will receive free training and materials to provide assistance to low and moderate income and disabled taxpayers who cannot prepare their own tax returns. Certified volunteers will be asked to work a minimum of four hours per week in February, March, and April 2014.
