ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – St. Louis residents might finally see a rumor become reality for shopping.

IKEA plans to open a St. Louis store, according to sources.

Two sources have confirmed to Five on Your Side that IKEA picked a site at Cortex Innovation Community, near the corner of Forest Park and Vandeventer.

The store would be more than 350,000 square feet and create 400 jobs. Once construction starts, it would take 18 months to complete the store.

The official announcement is set to happen around December 5. Neither IKEA, Mayor Francis Slay nor Cortex would confirm anything, but Cortex has plans to have a hotel and residential complex at the site as well as 13,000 permanent technology-related jobs.
