COLLINSVILLE, Ill. – A local volunteer has donated 3,000 hours of his time to a local hospice.

Roy Jones was recognized recently for his service to Unity Hospice of Greater St. Louis and Caseyville Nursing & Rehab.

"After my wife passed, I felt a motivation to make a difference. I want to help people realize that there is someone out there who cares. It isn't about a paycheck at this point. Our pay is how we help others," said Jones.

Jones joined Unity Hospice as a volunteer in 2010 and visits 10 patients at Caseyville Nursing & Rehab daily, including weekends. He says he feels blessed to work with the volunteer coordinator, Brenda McGarvey, and the rest of the team.
