ST. LOUIS COUNTY – Drivers are encouraged to avoid Hanley Road south of Interstate 64 due to a power outage affecting traffic signals.
Crews with the St. Louis County Departments of Highways and Traffic and Public Works are responding to the scene with generators to restore power to the signals. Power may not be restored to all signals until well into the evening rush hour.
Heavy congestion is expected along this stretch of road.
David Wrone, public information manager for the county, says utility work has reduced southbound Big Bed between Manchester and I-64 to a single lane, making Big Bend a poor alternate route for drivers who normally use Hanley. Wrone suggests drivers consider using McKnight or Brentwood.
The cause of the outage is unknown at this time.
