St. Louis, Mo (KSDK) -

Gunfire in the Delmar Loop leads to a several car accidents.

It happened just before 7pm Sunday at the intersection of Skinker and Delmar.

Police tell us the suspects were actually just behind the victims, both heading southbound on Skinker.

The suspects fired at the victims which then led to a traffic accident involving several vehicles.

The victim lost control of his car in the intersection while turning eastbound onto Delmar.

Police tell us it started when a gunman got out of a black SUV behind started firing at the victim's car.

The victim, a 30 year old male is in critical but stable condition and police tell us its unclear if there was another victim involved.

The suspects took off northbound on Skinker.

Police say the investigation is still ongoing and they don't know of a motive.

An employee of a bakery which sits right across the street from where the shooter was firing says the gunshots sounded like someone banging on the window.

"Some of the customers came behind the counter with us, just because we didn't know what exactly was going on and then the car crash," says Shannon Durphy of Piccione Pastry.

"The car was struck by several projectiles and there was a victim a 30 year old male who's been taken to the hospital," says Captain John Hayden with the St. Louis Metro Police.

Police say everyone involved in the shooting and crashes is expected to be just fine.
