FRANKLIN COUNTY, Mo. - About 40 animals rescued from the bitter cold in Franklin County arrived at the Humane Society's St. Louis location around 9 p.m. Monday.

The animals include chickens, rabbits and doves. Deputies say they belong to a woman who was found unconscious at her Robertsville home after a fall. They believe she had been on the floor since New Year's Day.

There's no word on the woman's condition.

The Humane Society will take custody for the animals until they can be returned to the victim.
