ST. LOUIS - The cold weather is keeping plumbers across the bi-state busy.
Dippel Plumbers in south city is just one plumbing company that says their phone has been ringing off the hook. The most common calls have been for frozen pipes and pipes that have burst.
NewsChannel 5 went on a couple of calls for both with them Tuesday. Benjamin Bippen says they've gotten calls to newer homes and older homes alike.
"Over-insulation, actually, is causing lots of problems. If you don't have a heat source, you can wrap insulation around a pipe all day long and then cover it up. You're actually insulating cold. Without a heat source, insulation does absolutely nothing," said Bippen.
You are encouraged to leave hot and cold water dripping to keep water flowing through those pipes.
