BELLEVILLE, Ill. (AP) - An East St. Louis man faces up to a century in prison after being convicted of killing an 80-year-old father of 11 children during a suspected robbery nearly five years ago.

The Belleville News-Democrat reports that a St. Clair County jury deliberated mor

e than two hours before finding 50-year-old Dennis Edwards guilty of murder.

Authorities say Spencer Brewer was shot to death in March 2009 in his East St. Louis home where he was known to sell individual packs of cigarettes.

Police Chief Michael Floore says two of Edwards' nephews already have pleaded guilty to charges that they played roles in Brewer's death. Those nephews testified against Edwards.

Edwards previously served 10 years in prison on a conviction of unlawfully possessing a weapon.
