ST. LOUIS (AP) - The topsy-turvy weather has changed again, bringing more snow and ice to parts of Missouri, along with a big drop in temperatures.
Snow in eastern Missouri amounted to just an inch or so in most places, but ice was mixed in. Several accidents were reported. With temperatures in the teens and winds gusting above 30 mph, clearing roadways was difficult.
Southbound Interstate 55 was closed in south St. Louis after a tanker truck collided with a snow plow. Fuel was leaking from the tanker truck, and it wasn't clear when the interstate would reopen.
Accidents also snarled traffic on interstates 44, 64 and 70 in the St. Louis area. The Missouri Department of Transportation reports that several major roads and highways in eastern Missouri are covered.
