ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Two new full-day preschool programs will soon be offered in the City of St. Charles School District.

The two full-day programs will be offered at Blackhurst and Coverdell elementary schools beginning Tuesday, Feb. 18. The programs are funded with a grant awarded by the Missouri Preschool Project.

The district's preschool program currently offers six half-day locations and is accredited by the state of Missouri.

"This is a wonderful thing for our schools, district and community," said Dr. Danielle Tormala, the associate superintendent of curriculum and instruction. "The importance of early childhood education cannot be emphasized enough and we feel this expansion will be a great service for our community."

Children between the ages of three and five are eligible to enroll in the programs, which will offer education in language, literacy, motor skills, math, science, are, music, and dramatic play.

Enrollment is currently underway. For more information, call Jeanie Mohrman at 636-443-4087 or visit the school district's website.
