CHESTER, Ill. – Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn announced Thursday $4.4 million will be invested to replace a gymnasium and two classrooms in the Chester School District 139.
Shifting ground has caused the facilities to become unusable.
The money primarily comes from the Illinois Jobs Now! capital program, which is part of Gov. Quinn's initiative to improve the educational environment for Illinois students.
The school district will kick in $1,502,942 to help renovated the Chester Elementary School gym and its connecting classrooms.
