HAZELWOOD, Mo. – Three Hazelwood, Mo. kids were rushed to an area hospital Thursday afternoon after a babysitter noticed they were acting lethargic.
Chief Dave Radel with the Hazelwood Fire Department says the children, ages 2, 3, and 4, were taken by ambulance from the home on Tamma Lane to DePaul Hospital shortly before 1 p.m. They were transferred to a local children's hospital. Their conditions are considered serious but not life-threatening.
Fire officials are looking into what could have caused the illnesses. They have checked the home's air quality and looked for toxins, but nothing has been found.
Police say the symptoms indicate this is "more of a medical situation than criminal situation."
The babysitter was not ill. A man outside the home who said he was the father of the children declined to comment.
