CARLINVILLE, Ill. - A dust storm closed a highway west of Carlinville, Ill. for a short time Friday afternoon.
Illinois State Police closed Highway 108 Friday after a dust storm caused poor visibility.
Macoupin County Emergency Management Director James Pitchford says there were two accidents, as the wind blew at approximately 25 miles per hour.
The accidents occurred as an Illinois State Police trooper was attempting to assist a driver who had driven off the roadway into a field because of the dust.
The trooper was rear-ended by another vehicle. He was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The highway reopened shortly before 5 p.m.
