BRENTWOOD, Mo. – The superintendent of the Brentwood School District sent a letter home to parents Thursday telling them about an incident involving a gun.

Supt. David Faulkner says on Wednesday school officials were notified that a student had brought a gun to an off-campus school event one night last week. He says officials immediately notified the Brentwood Police Department.

Potential witnesses were interviewed on Thursday, and based on those interviews, police believe a weapon was present on school property one day last week. It was not shown in a threatening manner.

Faulkner says the district is unable to comment on any disciplinary action taken against any individuals, but "the discipline policies of the Brentwood Board of Education will be applied firmly and appropriately."
