WARREN COUNTY, Mo. - A Warrenton police officer was injured Friday after he was hit by a vehicle on eastbound Interstate 70.

The officer was working a two-vehicle accident at mile marker 193 when another vehicle hit a patch of ice and hit the officer.

Emergency officials transported the officer to SSM St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake Saint Louis for treatment. Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper Juston Wheetley says the officer was conscious and breathing during his transportation.

Friday evening the Missouri State Highway Patrol said the officer suffered moderate injuries and had been discharged from the hospital.

Michael Daniels, director of the Warren County Emergency Management Agency says secondary roads are very slippery, and drivers should use caution.

Editor's note:
A previous version of this story erroneously stated the officer was inside his vehicle at the time of the accident.
