CAHOKIA, Ill. (KSDK) – A semi-truck slammed into a house and injured one person in a Cahokia neighborhood Wednesday morning.

The accident occurred near the intersection of Route 3 and East 5th Street and blocked three southbound lanes of Route 3.

The driver said he experienced a gag reflex, which caused the crash and knocked the home out of its foundation.

Paramedics took the homeowner to an area hospital with minor injuries.

More than 1,300 residences are without power in the area, according to Ameren Illinois outage map. Two poles were taken down in the accident, and crews are at the scene and working to repair the damage.
