ST. CLAIR, Mo. (KSDK) – Firefighters battled a fire in the St. Clair Historical Museum early Monday morning.

Five departments worked to get to the unoccupied building extinguished.

According to St. Clair Fire Department Chief Les Crews, the building had a significant amount of fire damage, including extensive smoke and water damage.

Many historical artifacts were able to be recovered, but many sustained water and smoke damage.

No injuries have been reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
