ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KSDK) – A video of a boy beating a dog posted and circulating on social media has lead to the arrests of two juveniles, according to St. Louis County police spokesman Brian Schellman.

St. Louis County police opened an investigation Thursday afternoon of the video after a number of citizens reported their concerns, Schellman said. The incident occurred somewhere in St. Louis County 1st precinct, which is in north St. Louis County.

The juveniles have been referred to the Family Court for an animal abuse charge.

The video posted by Coats Keshawn's Facebook profile has received more than 4,400 shares, and it shows a boy flipping and slamming down a dog multiple times.

The dog has been seized by animal control and is being examined and treated for injuries sustained, Schellman said.

Animal control officers say the dog is doing well and may eventually be put up for adoption.

Several NewsChannel 5 viewers have expressed concerns about the video's abuse through social media and emails throughout Thursday afternoon.

RIverview Gardens School District says they did assist in Thursday's investigation.

Hazelwood School District issued a brief statement on their website stating that it is not one of their students in the video.

No further information was immediately available.
