ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – Metro will be hosting three public meetings and a public hearing for the community to weigh in on a fare increase proposal that would happen this July.

Meetings will be held March 25-27 in the City of St. Louis, St. Louis County and East St. Louis at various times to allow the public to provide feedback on the three presented options. There will also be a public hearing April 1 at Metro's headquarters.

Last month, Metro presented three options to increase fare that includes, increasing the Metrolink cash fare from $2.25 to $2.50 and increase monthly pass to $80 with plans varying for weekly and semester passes.

The increase will result in $2.25 million in revenue and meet the organization's goal of reaching a 5 percent increase in passenger revenue by 2015.

The public meetings will have an open house format with no formal presentations, while the hearing will have a formal presentation and a public comment session.
