ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KSDK) – Approximately 100 people comprising Lowe's employees and community members will be working hard to build framing for five new Habitat for Humanity homes.

The Maplewood event is part of a broader nationwide event called Hammers for Habitat where the hardware store, Lowe's, hopes to recruit 100,000 volunteers for future events.

Locally, the framing for the new homes will be placed in a storage container and taken to Spanish Lake, where the homes will be built.

The organization continues to search for deserving families to purchase the homes. If you or someone you know is interested, you're encouraged to apply on the Habitat for Humanity website or call 314-371-0400.
