ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - It was early, it wasn't much but it sure was awful. The morning commute had only trace amounts of snow but timing is everything and everything was moving slow on area roadways this morning when there was movement at all.

The worst is over but the flurries aren't done. Variable clouds, scattered flakes and blustery northwest winds will deny us any notion of spring as highs struggle to get near 40 degrees. Once the sun goes down skies will clear winds will slow and overnight lows will fall into the mid-20s.

Starting tomorrow the warm up begins. Fair skies and highs in the low 50s are on tap but it will take all day to get that warm. By Thursday morning storms are possible and later highs near 60. However, late afternoon and evening we'll see another round of storms and there is a slight chance some of these could be severe.

Once we get to Friday and into the weekend fair skies show up with highs in the upper 50s Friday and Saturday and near 70 degrees on Sunday.
