ST. LOUIS - Two private donors have gifted approximately $1 million each to Cor Jesu Academy to help fund a new gymnasium and other enhancements for the St. Louis-area high school.

The two $1 million gifts are the largest in Cor Jesu's 58-year history. The school received additional gifts from 175 donors.

The school's "One Heart – On Spirit – One Vision" campaign will fund construction of not only a new gym, but a new chapel, student commons, expanded parking areas and roadwork.

The gymnasium will provide an environment more conducive for regulation competition and sporting events, and add more classrooms and multi-purpose space.

The student commons, which will overlook the gymnasium, will provide gathering and meeting spaces for students and one-on-one student/faculty meetings.

The new chapel, which will be located at the front façade of the campus, will hold up to 200 people. The current chapel only seats 50 people.

Seventy new parking spaces will be added to ensure all student drivers can park on campus safely.

To make room for these new buildings and enhancement, Cor Jesu purchased 16 acres adjacent to the school over the past six years, according to Sr. Barbara Thomas, ASCJ, and President of Cor Jesu Academy.
