ST. CHARLES COUNTY (KSDK) – A bus driver transporting students in the Francis Howell School District has lost his job due to texting while driving.

A Saeger Middle School student recorded the driver texting while driving in the rain this past week. Thursday, parents notified the Francis Howell School District that a bus driver under First Student, who is the transportation provider, was texting while driving.

First Student then fired the driver.

"The safety of our students is our top priority, and we will continue to work closely with First Student to review procedures to ensure ongoing safe driving practices," Francis Howell spokeswoman Jennifer Henry said.

No word yet on whether the driver will face any criminal charges.
