ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KSDK) – Parkway Central Middle School students will dismiss early after an Monday morning power outage.

In a letter to parents, Principal Michael Baugus writes that a power outage just north of the school building caused a portion of the building to lose power. Further, Ameren would need to repair a power line in the area and the entire school would be without power to fix it.

Ameren told Baugus that power would not be restored in time to keep kids in session all day.

Students have been moved to the Parkway Central High School gym, where they will be dismissed at 11:15 a.m. The school is working with the transportation department to release the students.

No word yet on whether power will be restored in time for Tuesday's school day.
