ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. (KSDK) - Firefighters from three departments were called to extinguish a house fire in New Melle Friday morning.

The fire began around 3 a.m. in a residence in the 4300 block of Hueffmeier Road.

The blaze was finally put out around 4:15 a.m. after firefighters from O'Fallon and Wentzville responded to assist the New Melle department.

The log cabin-style dwelling was being rehabbed, so no one was living there at the time of the fire.

The fire had spread from the garage to the living area, but firefighters said the house is salvageable.
