ST. LOUIS - A 3.5 hour rescue of a little puppy captivated hundreds of our Twitter followers Tuesday.
Storm, a teacup Chihuahua, tried to jump over a drainage pipe but didn't make it. He fell 10 feet below into the sewer.
St. Louis firefighters tried coaxing him out with bologna and dog food.
The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District then arrived at the scene and tried flushing him up with water. It was an excruciating waiting game.
"I called 911. The fire department came out immediately, but right now it's like a waiting game and I'm really scared for him. I can hear he's whining. He's right there. So close, but yet so far kind of thing," said Cocoa Young.
After 3.5 hours, firefighters, MSD, and members of the Humane Society of Missouri were able to rescue Storm from the storm drain.
